The Role: 

The Family Centre is looking for a detail oriented and proactive individual to join our finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this position is responsible for processing semi-monthly payroll including the maintenance of employees’ files and updating employees’ records in payroll software for new hires, terminations and salary changes.

Qualifications: 

  • Post-Secondary education in Accounting or related  discipline preferred; previous work experience in the accounting field may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years of payroll or accounting experience
  • PCP (Payroll compliance practitioner) certificate is considered an asset
  • Experience in a job costing environment considered an asset
  • Experience working within a computerized accounting system (experience using Sage 300 or PGI an asset)
  • Knowledge of current employment standards and regulations
  • Experience working in a non-profit environment is considered an asset

Key Responsibilities:                         

  • Responsible for maintaining the integrity of payroll data and protecting the confidentiality of employee data
  • Processing of semi-monthly payroll according to payroll schedule and deadlines
  • Processing manual ad-hoc employee payments as required
  • Processing new hires, leaves and terminations in the payroll system in compliance with agency procedures and legislatives regulations
  • Maintenance of employee payroll files, including processing all employee payroll adjustments (position changes, salary changes, retroactive salary/hourly adjustments, benefits and RRSP amount change etc.), deductions, and taxable benefits
  • Creation and submission of ROE’s using ROE Web
  • Ensure accuracy of all staff payroll being processed
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from staff and leadership
  • Reconcile and prepare all source deduction remittances and RRSP remittances semi-monthly
  • Preparation and submission of annual T4 returns
  • Provide assistance with year-end audit work
  • Additional duties as required

Compensation:
