The intention of Family Engagement Services is to offer a process by which family can come together with kin, close friends, and community members to support a child or youth requiring intervention services. This practice offers a collaborative approach and it is intended to build on the strengths of the family system.
- Diploma or degree in Human Services Field, with related experience
- Experience working with Children’s Services and Collaborative Service Delivery beneficial
- Experience working with families from diverse cultures
- Knowledge, skills and abilities to work with people who have experienced trauma
- Valid driver’s licence, reliable vehicle and liability insurance
- Strong interpersonal skills to help establish good working relationships with clients
- Ability to establish clear boundaries and be sensitive to the individual needs of each family
- Ability to problem solve with a non-confrontational approach
- Reliable and flexible availability, including some evenings and weekends
- Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented
- Facilitating intensive Family Searches to increase circles of support, locate potential placements and increase extended family and community involvement
- Working collaboratively with children, youth, families, agency staff, community, Children’s Services, Indigenous Communities and Bands
- Contributing to the research and evaluation effort to understand and measure the effectiveness of circle process as a part of the overall service development
- Maintaining a focus on general wellbeing, with a focus on trauma and attachment
- Assists the family in connecting to culture, community and ceremony
