Our Workshops for Self Improvement:
Overcoming Anxiety
We all experience some anxiety, but too much anxiety can take a toll on your wellbeing. In this class, you will learn about different types of anxiety disorders, causes, and symptoms. You will also learn practical skills and healthy coping strategies to combat anxiety, so you can lead a more peaceful life.
Do you often feel hopeless? Unable to function day-to-day? You may have depression. Depression is one of the most commonly experienced mental health concerns. In this class, you will learn the common causes and symptoms of depression and discover coping strategies to decrease depression.
You will learn about the characteristics of self-esteem, self-defeating behaviours, and setting healthy boundaries in our Building Self Esteem workshop. This could be the first step you need in becoming seen and respected as the strong individual you are inside.
Do you find it difficult to speak up for yourself and share your opinion or feelings? In this course, you will learn how to express your feelings honestly, use "I" statements, and how to be assertive. You will feel more comfortable saying "no" and make your own choices.
Do you feel like you have a good understanding of the basics of self-esteem and assertiveness and are looking for a deeper look into yourself? Take a journey of self-discovery by creating a personality profile that helps to discover your personal 'why' by seeing the past and pushing for future goals and fulfillment.
Do you know someone who is struggling with addictions or maybe you are facing addiction challenges? Addictions are not just drugs or alcohol; it could be anything. In this workshop, you will learn about dependency, its impacts to your life, and how to help someone with an addiction.
The Family Centre acknowledges that we are on Treaty 6 territory, a traditional meeting ground, gathering place, and traveling route for the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene, and Nakota Sioux. We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries.
