Cultural Coaches

Cultural coaches provide support to ethnocultural youth and their families in our partnering schools.

Cultural Coaches

Cultural coaches create inclusive school environments that identify and celebrate differences. They seek to promote understanding, empathy, and compassion amongst students and staff by focusing on prevention, inclusion, equity, and intersectionality.

  • Create positive connections to culture
  • Develop a well-rounded sense of identity
  • Feel an increased sense of belonging
  • Increase their feelings of safety and support within their community.

This is done through one-to-one goal-setting, group settings, and community engagement and development.

Cultural coaches are funded through the City of Edmonton’s Family and Community Support Services.

Who can access these services?

Students and their families at participating schools. Please connect with the principal for more information.

How much does it cost?

There is no cost to families.

The Family Centre acknowledges that we are on Treaty 6 territory, a traditional meeting ground, gathering place, and traveling route for the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene, and Nakota Sioux. We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries.
