Relationships, whether they be with romantic partners, friends, family members, or co-workers, are an important part of leading a healthy and fulfilling life.
Being in a healthy relationship can contribute to feelings of safety, security, happiness, and overall life satisfaction. But sometimes, we don't feel these things in our relationships. The right help can be important to support you through these challenges.
Some relationships help bring out the best in you, while others may leave you feeling hurt, angry, unsafe, or insecure. It’s not always easy to determine which relationships are serving you well and how to fix the ones that are broken.
Strive Therapy Group
Strive is a group for men to support building healthier relationships.
This program focuses on building more fulfilling relationships and balanced life with healthier approaches to conflict, including situations where there could be violence. It will help you enhance your well-being by showing you how to develop healthier relationship skills based on your own personal values and what you want your life to be.
The small group is facilitated by a mental health therapist.

What is covered?
The group consists of four modules. Each module is covered over four weeks, making this a 16-week program.
Self-awareness and self-management
Conflict management and communication skills
Core beliefs, values, and life balance
Power in relationships and impacts of gender socialization
You can join the group at the start of any of the modules.
Recognize the signs of healthy and unhealthy relationships and how to respond
Skills for communicating effectively in your relationships
Implement flexible and appropriate boundaries
Understand how your relationship with yourself impacts all your relationships
Recognize the role that power plays in relationships
Be more confident in managing conflict

Who can attend?
Any man aged 18 or over who is experiencing challenges in relationships. This group is suitable for men from diverse backgrounds and various relationship statuses.
How to get started?
The first step is to attend a free information session to learn more about the group and see if it is the right fit for you.
You can watch the information session as a video whenever convenient for you, or you can attend a 30-minute information session in person.
In person:
The in-person information sessions are held on Wednesdays at 4:30 PM at our downtown location, 9912-106 Street NW Edmonton. You can just drop in on a day that is convenient for you. You can also sign up ahead of time, but it is not required.
New participants can start after attending an information session and an interview with a facilitator to gather background information and set personalized goals.
Participating in a therapy group can feel like a big, intimidating step to take. We will be there to support you when you are ready to get started.
How much does it cost?
The cost is $200 per module, and $800 for the full program.
Subsidies are available based on our sliding scale. That means your fee depends on your income and how much you can afford to pay. We will complete a fee assessment for you after you have attended an information session.
