You’re Not Alone: Our Services to Improve Your Mental Health

Are you going through a tough time right now?

Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed by stress, stuck in a cycle of anxiety or depression, or having a hard time coping with grief or loss. Perhaps your relationships feel strained, or parenting challenges leave you exhausted and unsure of where to turn. When life feels heavy, it’s easy to believe you must carry it all alone —but you don’t.

Reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not weakness. Our mental health therapists are here to walk alongside you, offering a safe and compassionate space to share your struggles. You deserve to feel better—and with some support, you can.

Thousands of people access our mental health services each year. Here’s what one of them had to say:

“Have the strength & courage to walk through the door. There’s help that you can’t even imagine possible. Your future will certainly change. You don’t have to be defined by your past. Have that faith and courage to get help.”

Counselling

If you are feeling stuck, our mental health therapists can help you better understand your situation and support you in moving successfully through it. Often, one session may be enough to help you think more clearly.

Common reasons for counselling include:

  • Depression, anxiety, and stress
  • Relationship challenges, including separation and divorce
  • Parenting challenges and child development
  • Trauma and life transitions

Signs that you could benefit from counselling include

  • A recent traumatic event such as grief or loss, a relationship breakup, a move, a change in family dynamics, or a car accident
  • Intense, roller-coaster feelings of anger, sadness, or hopelessness
  • Isolating yourself and withdrawing from activities which have previously given you joy (such as family outings, going to the gym, attending social functions)
  • Trying to numb your feelings with things like alcohol, drugs, food, sex, or shopping

Everyone in Alberta is welcome to access our counselling. Your first session is free and available online, over the phone, or in person. Counselling is available for individuals, couples, and families.

Therapy Groups

Our small therapy groups are facilitated by mental health therapists. They provide a safe space to develop coping skills and share experiences with others in a similar situation.

Before attending a group, you will receive information on what to expect from the group's facilitator to ensure you feel prepared and comfortable.

Anxiety Therapy Group (5 weeks)

We all feel anxious sometimes - after all, it is a natural response to stressful situations. But when anxious feelings become too frequent, it can take a toll on your well-being.

If anxiety is holding you back, this group helps you understand anxiety and develop a plan to begin moving out of anxiety.

Depression Therapy Group (5 weeks)

Everyone feels sad from time to time. But, if you are often feeling hopeless and upset, you might have depression.

This group helps participants understand the difference between sadness and depression and create an action plan for moving forward.

Strive: Men’s Healthy Relationship Group (16 weeks)

Some relationships help bring out the best in you, while others may leave you feeling hurt, angry, unsafe, or insecure. It’s not always easy to determine which relationships are serving you well and how to fix the ones that are broken.

This group is for men looking to build healthier relationships and manage conflict in a supportive environment. You will learn effective communication, conflict management, and the signs of healthy relationships.

Healthy Relationships Group for Women (16 weeks)

Being in a healthy relationship can contribute to feelings of safety, security, happiness, and overall life satisfaction. But sometimes, we don't feel these things in our relationships.
This program focuses on building more fulfilling relationships and a balanced life with less conflict. You will learn the signs of healthy relationships, effective communication, setting boundaries, and conflict management.

Grieving Through Art (8 weeks)

Grieving a loss can be painful, but you don’t have to go through it on your own. In this group, you can talk about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours associated with the loss of a loved one by death, separation, and even pet loss. You will engage in creative and mindfulness activities and conversations, and monitor therapeutic change as you companion with others throughout the group.

Postpartum Therapy Group (6 weeks)

Welcoming a newborn in your family can be one of the greatest joys in life. However, transitioning into parenthood and caring for a newborn can also be overwhelming. Many new parents experience something called the “baby blues,” which can manifest into more serious symptoms of depression and anxiety.

This group is a judgment-free space where mothers and birthing parents can speak about their personal experiences and receive therapeutic support on how to treat postpartum depression and anxiety. You can connect with other parents, learn coping strategies, and find balance in your new family life.

This free group is available online or in person at several locations across Edmonton.

Partner Postpartum Therapy Group (6 weeks)

Partners or close family members supporting someone through pregnancy and postpartum can join this online group to learn more about the physical, emotional, and psychological changes your loved one (and you!) may experience, as well as how to provide effective emotional and practical support.

Sessions will cover topics like managing stress, maintaining healthy relationships, navigating new parenthood, and the importance of self-care for partners.
