Supports for parents in Edmonton

Parenting can be hard. Some days it feels like all you do is deal with meltdowns or never-ending arguments. Or after having a baby, maybe you don’t feel like yourself anymore. You don’t have to figure it out on your own.

A woman sits on a couch holding a baby. She looks down at it fondly.

If you are looking for proven parenting tips that actually work, The Family Centre can help. We have supported thousands of Edmonton families to communicate better with their kids, bring more calm to their homes, and find hope when parenting feels overwhelming.

For many parents, just one session with us is enough to feel more confident handling everyday challenges.

When becoming a parent feels harder than you expected

Welcoming a baby changes everything. Even in the joyful moments, it can still feel really hard. Most new moms feel overwhelmed, anxious, or unlike themselves in the early days of parenthood.

Almost 80% of new birthing parents experience the “baby blues”. This can include mood swings, trouble sleeping, anxiety, and irritability. For some, those feelings don’t go away and can turn into postpartum depression or anxiety.

The Postpartum Therapy Group is a free, non-judgmental space to talk about your feelings and learn practical tips to feel better. You don’t need a diagnosis to join, and you don’t need to be at your breaking point. If something just feels off, this group is for you.

When school-age kids leave you frustrated

Parenting school-age kids can feel like a daily battle - arguments about homework, constant backtalk, slammed doors, and sibling fights. Some days it feels like nothing works, no matter what you try, and you are left exhausted, frustrated, and questioning yourself as a parent.

The Parenting School-Age Children class is here to give you real, practical tools that make parenting feel less overwhelming. Together, we’ll explore why kids this age act out, and how to respond in ways that actually work.

By the end of the session, you’ll feel more confident creating parenting strategies that stick, setting boundaries with less pushback, and handling everyday challenges with more calm.

You can take the class in a small group and meet other parents in similar situations, or take a private lesson.
